A review of the HP Zbook 15u G5 Mobile Workstation laptop.
The HP Zbook 15u G5 Mobile Workstation is a great update to the previous 15u G4 model. HP designed the ZBook 15u G5 as a careful balance between a mobile workstation powerhouse wrapped around a delicate thin and lightweight body.

Typical limited Dave solutions
I have just bought one at a good price. However the HP Zbook 15u G5 Mobile Workstation maintenance / service guide on the HP site doesn't seem to be for this newer version. Has anyone got a link to the newer guide?
I think display problem is related to windows. If you install ubuntu 18.04, you will feel the difference 🙂
The thunderbolt 3 uses x2 or x4 PCIe lanes?
3:28 That's all I need to hear. Thank you, it does not meet my specs in practice.
These things fly with a Samsung 870 Pro SSD in them…….
Look so fkin ugly compared to G1-G4. :S Don't even want to upgrade. Why they went into the slim direction? These things supposed to be beefy hardware wise (housing Xeon processors and stuff) not slim…
I bought this laptop a few weeks ago, but i cant really do any editing on it because the video playback is chobby and laggy on davinci resolve 15 (even with optimized media) and premiere.
I have tried a bunch of different drivers on the amd gpu and other components that can cause it but no effect on the laggyness, could it be that the amd gpu is just broken, or does somebody know what i could do to fix this?
HP is the closest to Apple these days, they have the best windows laptops
I just invested in a zbook x360 studio…a mouthful for a name…and I mostly enjoy (if not simply because it's an upgrade from my previous system). It's got software issues out-of-the-box, but I think I'm getting close to solving them.
Can you plug an external GPU (such as the Razor Core X or V2 into the TB3 port to boost GPU performance?
HP EliteBook 850 G5: i7 cpu, 1TB, 16 gb ram. Bright 4k display 15“
how does this one compare to Zbook 15v G5? is it muuuuchhh better or just a bit better?
How does this compare to an Acer e15 with a current gen processor. Seems like the stats are pretty similar
It's a pity it is so noisy, otherwise I would buy it. I can't stand loud fans when I work, and want to concentrate.
Is this good for a college student?
is this the i7?
What is the material used?
What does the 15u mean?
It does not have CUDA acceleration for Premiere Pro though,. The Quadro P1000 is not the p2000 listed. However the processor seems quite powerful. Can you game on the P1000 as with an Nvidia 1050?
I bought a HP ZBook 14u G5 almost as soon as it was available from HP. I loved the build quality, keyboard, screen, and i/o ports. I also liked that it had a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port as well as the HP Slimdock connector. I believe that the new ZBooks are better for professional users as compared to Apple’s MBP line solely based upon hardware. I’ve been a Mac OS guy for a while, though, and I’ve experienced some difficulty going from Mac to Windows (missing some of the Mac features). I ended up returning my ZBook and got a iPad Pro for now. When I do get another laptop, though, I’ve got my eye on the ZBook Studio G5 — I think that the Studio model has much better thermals than the 14u and 15u.
