I’m not sure why I insist on using my fingers when working with charcoal…they always crack and bleed, but I am getting more savvy about using a Chamois…or paper towel in this case. — at Sacred Shadow Studio for the Mind Unwind June Exhibit.

Still need to figure out how to make the wall panels movable so the doors they will be hiding can be accessed easily throughout the exhibition to make space for classes and other events in the Gallery.  Click images for more about this piece by the artist.

June 13: Origami Invitational – All Youth Origami Artists Welcome to participate in Artwalk

In celebration of two Featured Youth Origami Artists, the June Exhibition at Mind Unwind Gallery will include an  Origami Invitational

All Youth Origami Artists are welcome to bring in and share their favorite pieces during the West Seattle Artwalk June 13th, 5pm-7pm.

Included in the June exhibition called “The Sacred Shadow Self” will be a seascape of shadows made by large-scale Origami structures including an 11 foot Origami Albatross folded by 3rd grader Cole Durnwirth and an Origami Sea Anemone assembled by 3rd grader Caroline Byrne.

Meditation as Performance Art: Calling all Meditators to Participate in the June 2013 Exhibit!

Looking for Meditators of all traditions

From Vipassana, QiGong Practitioners, Yogis and Yoginis to Kirtan Performers and other Meditation Practitioners.  Please join us and share your sacred practice in a sacred space for the benefit of people curious about meditation and interested in learning more about meditation. 

Please read the complete Artist Statement for more information and fill out the form at the end of the page to share YOUR sacred self!  You are also welcome to bring brochures or other informational materials to leave behind throughout the month long exhibition.

Performances are scheduled June 13th, during West Seattle Art Walk from 6p-9p and closing June 28th 7p-10p.

Other performances can be scheduled throughout the month by filling out the form at the end of the Artist Statement.

It’s Not Too Late To Join The Kid’s Video Club

Video Club Details:Intro-Class-For-Video-Club

Ages 9 and up will learn how to produce professional quality videos at a low to no budget. Our instructors will guide kids through video concept (writing & planning, shot-lists, pre-production); production (lighting & shooting video);and post production (editing and uploading). Young directors/filmmakers will ultimately upload their personal youtube videos on their own personal channel. This camp encourages kids to be creative, helpful, informative & collaborative. Their videos can be for education, for marketing, or simply to make a viral video. It is up to each child to submit and get their video idea okay before start of the course. There will be homework….not every evening, but work outside the studio will be required. Video Club will meet after school for 6 weeks on Fridays at 4pm until 6:00pm. 

$350/6 week session.

Calling Artists! Next Homemade Brigade Saturday, May 11th

The Homemade Brigade is a community partnership between Mind Unwind and Freshy’s Coffee. The Brigade is comprised of artists who create goods and art pieces in small batches by hand. Most of the artists featured in the past use recycled and reused materials, but this is not necessary.

For artists, come sell your wares. Entrance fee includes table, you keep all your sales…there is no commission. Table fee is $15 per artist. Register early, space is limited!

For art enthusiasts, come buy local art that is creative and inspiring. Support local art and business!

Mommy & Me Studio Painting…Now Midweek!

We have a great class for the younger kids in your life (3-5 year olds) and our attendance has been a little low….So, we are now offering Mommy & Me Studio Painting on once a month on Wednesdays.
